Dress Rehearsal (Thurs. May 28) Email

A huge thank you to all of you for a great first rehearsal yesterday! I hope that helps our new families feel more familiar with the venue, and more prepared for these next few days 🙂

Today is DRESS REHEARSAL which means costumes, tights, shoes, hair, and stage make up. Please use your assigned dressing room to change costumes. If it’s sprinkling during your rehearsal time, Music Room dancers are welcome to change in one of the other backstage dressing rooms, a bathroom, the lobby, the audience, where ever. But please be sure to at least locate your dressing room at some point today so you know where to go tomorrow!

Here is the link to the Dress Rehearsal Order.

The goal for dress rehearsal is to run through the show with minimal stopping. Here’s how you can help that happen!

  • Arrive on time. We plan to start the first dance at 4:30. Everyone in the first act should meet in the audience by 4:15 so we can make announcements and get the first 4-5 classes lined up. Based on how incredibly amazing everyone did yesterday, it is VERY likely that we will run ahead of schedule tonight…especially when we get to both Group Dances. If you are only in the 2nd half, please be there at least 15 minutes early (6:00). As a reminder, if we’re running early within a 15 minute timeframe, we will continue.
  • Pay attention to where we are in the show order throughout the evening. We will NOT be stopping to announce who should be lining up in between every dance.
  • Classes should get lined up backstage around 4-5 dances before they are performing. As you’re tracking along with the show order, make sure you find your class on time so the stage moms can help the dancers get lined up backstage. Since we’re in costumes, it should be easy to find each other 🙂

Some more reminders:

  • Take a moment before dress rehearsal to put your dancers name on costumes, shoes, bags, and anything that could be mixed up with other friends. Every year, something gets grabbed accidentally by someone else.
  • Dressing rooms will be open tonight so you can use those spaces to change! Stage moms are NOT expected to stay in the dressing rooms with their class the whole night tonight, so please do not leave any young children unattended in the dressing rooms.
  • All parents are in charge of changing their own dancer’s costume, if the dancer needs help changing. The stage moms are NOT expected to change every dancer.

Group Dances:

  • Dancers do NOT have a separate costume for the group dance that they’re in. Dancers will wear whatever costume they’re already in, and non-tap shoes. So either ballet, jazz, half-soles, or their hip hop shoes. Whatever kind doesn’t make tap sounds 🙂

If you’re in the first half of the show, we’ll see you at 4:15 in the audience, so we’re ready to roll at 4:30! See you soon.
